Sisterly Love

Emerson got to play "dress up" with Samantha this weekend- what fun it was for Sammie to pick out the outfits. She also liked picking out their outfits for church.

Daddy's Girls

The "girls" each got a Daddy's girl shirt and surprised him with them Friday evening. We were taking a few pictures and things got a bit silly.

Cousins

Cousins--- the girls had a ball yesterday getting to play with their cousins, Lauren and Gerogia. Samantha and Lauren enjoyed playing dolls, trucks, barbies, running around the house in circles and coloring. Sweet Georgia- LOVED- her baby cousin. She was fascinated with her- until her mom (Derise) would hold Emerson. If Matt (Ang's brother) would hold Emmy it was ok. We all enjoyed a trip to the duck pond to feed our feathered friends. A fun day~

Want some Smore?

The crisp evening air was filled with the aroma of burning wood melted marshmallows and a child running in circles from too much chocolate. Okay, not entirely true, but we did have smores tonight in the backyard with Russ and Joanne. I'll let you decide who had too much chocolate...

Splish Splash-

Here we go again ---- a bath- but this time it is in a bathtub and not the kitchen table....
Emerson says- I think I like this but this is very different!
Ok- Mom if you tell me it will be ok I will just keep holding your hand.
Ahh - this is better- warm blanket and binkie.
That was a lot of work- time for a nap now....

Emerson moved up to her big "baby" bathtub today since her cord was all off. She liked it and didn't cry. I do believe she is wondering when the camera will disappear for all of her activities. Her face says it all on a couple of the pictures. She was happy to be snuggled up and dry, and then it was time for a nap- a day at the spa will do that.

Sammie is Reading

Sammie came home with a special bag from school yesterday- it had a "reading finger" (big green like- witch finger with red pointy nail) so she could point to the words and 3 books. She proudly read to us last night and had a fun time reading to Emmy. Some of the words that she is learning are I, like, have... amazing what they learn in kindergarten.

It is great being a big sister!

Big sister Samantha is certainly taking to her new "role". She LOVES to feed Emerson, talk to her, hold her, pick her up, read to her, color her picutres, push her stroller and pick out her outfits. The girls certainly have a bond all ready as Emerson lights up and certainly knows big sister Sam's voice.

Zoo

Samantha had a no school day on Monday. The Des Moines Hilbert "girls" plus Papa enjoyed a trip to the Blank Park Zoo. It was a big day with so many funny things happening- including the monkey who wouldn't stop screaming, the lama that spit at us at the petting zoo, seeing the 80-year old turtles being feed medicine, and the very close encounter with the tiger. What fun!

Sleepy Time

After a fun filled few days- the "girls" are snoozing. Sammie and Emmy enjoy getting a story read together. Tonight they both feel asleep- big sister is right by holding on tight to little Emerson.

Parade- CANDY!

f

Samantha and Emerson enjoyed the Beaverdale Fall Festival Parade today. Emerson loved it so much she slept through it.

Samantha (along with Gdpts. Sandi and Gene) got so much candy, they used Emerson's car seat to hold some. After the girls returned home, we sorted the candy and put the different kinds in 15 different baggies (Sammie really likes to sort "like things"). After the candy was put away, we found a funny stow away tootsie roll that Emerson may have been trying to save for later (see photo left hand side). She and her mommie love toostie rolls.

Cheesburgers in Paradise

While Gma Jo (Ang's mom) was here to help with Emerson. We enjoyed an outing for cheeseburgers (which Emerson thought looked really good). The next night, the girls had their first ice cream adventure which included going in pj's for the little girls at Vandees.

Emerson's Toys

Emerson has discovered her friends ... the pink teddy bear is from big sister and the little dolly is from big cousin Madie. She decided yesterday that they were kind of fun to try to eat. Later, they just relaxed.

Friends Visit

Emerson and Samantha both got to play yesterday. Ang's friend Melissa and her children, Payton and Ella came for a visit. The kids had a ball with trucks and dress up, and the "girls" got to visit.

Emerson also got to meet Grant (he was being a bit bashful for the camera) last week when he brought lunch and dinner (with a little help from mom, Amanda).

Choosy dogs choose Jif!

Shelby got a special treat this morning...her favorite peanut butter! Ang was making Samantha's lunch to take to school and the peanut butter jar was basically empty. Sam thought it would be funny if Shelby got it so Rob simply handed it to her. At first Shelby was tentative, probably wondering if this was some sort of trap...usually she'd get in big trouble for eating something like this. Once she realized it was okay, she went to town on the jar and got it completely clean. Well, as clean as a dogs tongue anyway.

Get your motor runnin'...head out on the sidewalk!

Samantha decided to give her bike another try the last few days. Though she is still on training wheels, she has definitely enjoyed going fast down the sidewalks. Next year, we'll get those training wheels off so she can really fly...Rob will start constructing the jumps/ramps over the winter. BMX on 76th Street!
